Nationwide to Double Prize Amount for School Spirit Contest
Winning School to now get $2400
Oakland, CA – Corrigan Sports announces today that Nationwide, whom over the past 85 years focusing on customers and valuing people have helped Nationwide become one of the largest insurance and financial companies in the world, has decided to double their prize amount for this year’s School Spirit Contest at the Oakland Running Festival on March 20, 2016. Previously, the winning school was going to take home $1,200, now they will win $2,400.
This year’s Nationwide School Spirit contest will feature five Oakland-based High Schools: Oakland High, Lighthouse, Skyline, American Indian and MetWest. Each school will be positioned along the 26.2 marathon route cheering on runners from all over the country. Per a runner vote, the school with the most “spirit” will receive $2,400 from Nationwide. No matter the outcome, all schools will receive a donation from Nationwide.
The Oakland Running Festival, dubbed one of the Best Events in the West, features five races ranging from a full marathon to kids fun run and expects more than 10,000 runners in this its 7th year.

The 7th Annual Oakland Running Festival will take place on March 20, 2016. The well-acclaimed event features a full marathon, half-marathon, Hawaiian Airlines Four-Person Relay, Bank of the West 5k, Run the Town Challenge and Kids Fun Run.
