Oakland Running Festival Returns to Snow Park

Oakland, CA (September 5, 2019) — Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) announced today the 2020 Oakland Running Festival start/finish line will relocate back to the recently renovated Snow Park. While next year’s marathon course will change to accommodate the move from Eastshore Park, the 26.2-mile and team relay courses will once again run over the Bay Bridge after 2019’s resounding success as the first-ever running event to cross the Oakland landmark.

Snow Park previously served as the event’s start/finish line and post-race celebration area from 2012-2016 prior to undergoing its recent expansion. The completed $12 million public works project includes a new pedestrian promenade, new bike lanes and racks, a new children’s play area, renovated bathrooms, a new running trail along Lake Merritt and a public art project.

Lee Corrigan, president of CSE and executive director of the Oakland Running Festival, said, “Snow Park is a jewel of the Oakland Parks system, and now we’ll have even more room for runners to celebrate on race day. In addition to the structural improvements, it gives our runners greater access to BART and our host hotel, the Oakland Marriott City Center.

The Oakland Running Festival features a marathon, half marathon, team relay, and Total Health Dental Care 5K. Next year’s race day is scheduled for March 22nd.
