Rules and Requirements

  • Age Requirements:
    • Marathon: 13 or older
    • Half-Marathon: 13 or older
    • 10K: 10 or older
    • 5K: 5 or older
  • Waiver must be signed – waiver at bottom of registration form (if participant is under 18 years old, parent or guardian must sign the release. If a participant is under 12, a parent or guardian must accompany along race course).
  • Entry fees are non-refundable (sorry, no exceptions)
  • No-shows will NOT be sent t-shirts
  • For your safety, the following are NOT permitted on the course: strollers, skates, hand-held radio/tape/CD players, pets
  • Race numbers and chips required for all races (no chips for Kids Fun Run)
  • Marathon participants ONLY: you must be able to complete the course in seven (7) hours
  • Half-Marathon participants ONLY: you must be able to complete the course in five (5) hours
  • There is NO race day registration
  • You may defer your entry until next year’s race with a valid medical explanation; HOWEVER you will be charged a $25 processing fee.
We welcome people with disabilities to participate in the Oakland Running Festival!

For people who use wheelchairs: Onsite registration areas, bathroom facilities, and the course are wheelchair accessible. Note that on the course, there are a few curbs to go up/down with a slight uphill finish. When you register online, the registration form will ask if you are a wheelchair participant. We do have a wheelchair division.  The wheelchair division starts a few minutes before the main start of the race.

BAG CHECK INFORMATION

On Sunday, runners may check their gear at the Gear Check Area located in Snow Park towards Harrison St. Gear check will be open from 6:00am until 1:00pm.  All bags left after 1:00pm will be moved to the info tent.  All bags not picked up from info by 2:00pm will be donated to charity.
You MUST provide your own bag.  We ask that those bags be clear in color.  Your race bib will have a bag check receipt for identification.  We will not handle oversized luggage.  Your bag will remain at Runner’s Gear Check Area at all times and will be available when you finish. Do not check valuables as we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen articles.   You must have your bib to claim your items.  Items not claimed will be donated to charity.

NEW REFERRAL PROGRAM

REFERRAL REFUND POLICY
You can earn up to a $75 REFUND of your registration fee by referring friends to run with you!
Use the custom referral link that is included in your confirmation email.  You can post it on social media, text it or email it to your friends and family to encourage them to run with you.   You will get a $25 refund by referring 5 friends to sign up using your custom link.   Plus you can earn up to an additional $50 refund if you refer your next 5 for a total of 10 friends who sign up with your custom link.
All you need to do is share your unique referral link that appears in your confirmation email! You can email, share on social media or text your friends the link.

  • Limited time offer.  Race reserves the right to stop or change promotion at any time.
  • Friends must register with your link at time of their registration. Those who sign up without your link will not be added to your referral count.
  • Refunds will be automatically credited to the card you registered within 20 business days of reaching the required referral total.
  • Max refund is $75 or what was paid as your entry fee, whichever is less.  Coupons and discounts will effect this total.  (e.g. 5k registrants whose entry fee is less than $75 are only eligible for a refund of the entry fee they paid.)
  • Refund only applies to registration fee portion of the entry.
  • Transaction fees or other fees or charges will not be refunded.
  • Charity registrations are not eligible for refunds or referral counts.
  • Only the relay captain who paid the registration fee and whose credit card is in the system is eligible for the refunds. (team members who joined a team have paid $0 so there no funds to refund.)

Edit Registration

Need to make a change to your registration? You can edit everything except your name, gender, and date of birth by logging into your registration HERE.

The deadline to upgrade or downgrade your registration is Friday March 3rd. After this date, all edits can be made at the Health and Fitness Expo.

Deferment

If you become injured and cannot participate in the Oakland Running Festival this year you may defer your entry until next year. There is a $25 processing fee to do so. ALL DEFERMENT REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED WITH PAYMENT 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO RACE DAY (March 3rd). To take advantage of this offer please Click Here to login to your registration and select “defer.” You will automatically be entered in next year’s race.

Cancellation Policy

The Oakland Running Festival does not allow for refunds or transfers of entry fee.

We all know that injuries often arise during training after we have registered for a race. The Oakland Running Festival has different options should this happen to you. We ask that you make your decision as early as you can to avoid issues and possible loss of fees.
