Come Run the Bank of the West 5K!  Come one come all!  The Bank of the West 5K Race is open to participants of all ages and is the perfect way to be a part of the Oakland Running Festival celebration without miles of pre-race training or post-race recovery!    The Bank of the West  5K will run through the city streets near starting and ending at Eastshore Park at Lakeshore & El Embarcadero. Participants will use the same start and finish line as the marathon and half-marathon.  The course will include one(1) water stop at the half way point and everyone celebrate their accomplishments at the Erdinger Active Tour Celebration Village.

Medals for 5K Finishers!  Thanks to our friends at Bank of the West, our 5k finishers will receive a finisher medal when they cross the finish line.    We are excited to be able to honor our participants in this way and hope every one of our participants will proudly display a medal that they worked hard to earn.

We Run the Town Challenge!  We all know runners are crazy but now you have a chance to prove it!  Sign up for the We Run the Town Challenge and complete the 5K and the half-marathon on the same day and earn a special third  medal for your collection.  LEARN MORE HERE.

Chip Timing

The event will be timed using the B-tag technology which offers runners a more streamlined race experience than the traditional chip system. B-Tags are attached to participant bib and clearly marked with the corresponding bib number. This eliminates the need to scan your chip at the expo.

In addition, runners do not need to return the tag and can dispose of it at their convenience. This means no more sitting down to undo your shoe lace just after your run and it also means you no longer have to worry about the $30 charge for a lost chip.

Tips to have your time accurately recorded:

  • Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)
  • Race bib is pinned in all four corners
  • Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
