Running Virtually
The 2023 Oakland Running Festival is scheduled to be a live race BUT we are excited to announce that the 2023 race will also have a virtual component! This is a great way to still get involved whether or not you’re at the live race! With 4 great virtual distances, the 5k, 10K, Half Marathon & Full Marathon there’s something for everyone. So get registered today and then check out the next steps below!
I registered to run virtually… what’s next?!
1.) CHECK OUT OUR SOCIAL TEAM PROGRAM. Get your friends to join the race! Once your team reaches 10 people, you all get a $10 discount! For more information see our social team page.
2.) Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to catch up with all the live runners action AND catch up with your virtual running buddies!
While most of our virtual fun will happen on our Facebook Page, you can also join us on our other social media accounts. You can find us on Instagram at @OaklandMarathon and Strava @Oakland Running Festival.
We’ll also be sending out need to know information through emails.
2.) Prepare for your race day:
- Download your bib on Run Sign Up
- Keep checking out our online Facebook community for tips, tricks and fun
- Take pictures of your race day outfit, route, cheer stations, and running group… you will be able to send when you submit your results.
3.) How to Run virtually:
We’re encouraging everyone to complete their race on March 19th for a true race day feel. However, you’re free to do your race ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!
You may use whatever timing and distance tracking method/app that you chose. You are not required to submit your time, however if you want your time posted online, you must submit your time on Run Sign Up by March 30th . Regardless of whether or not you submit your time, you will get your premium and medal.

4.) Enjoy your SWAG!
All race packets will be automatically sent to you the week after Race Day, Sunday, March 19, so be sure to triple-check your shipping address!
