The Return to Eastshore Park

Oakland Running Festival to Return to Eastshore Park

Oakland, CA (July 20, 2017)—Corrigan Sports Enterprise (CSE), the owners and operators of the Oakland Running Festival (ORF), announced Eastshore Park will once again host the event’s start/finish line. The ninth annual Oakland Running Festival will take place Sunday, March 25th and feature five different race distances: Marathon, Half Marathon, Four-Person Relay, Bank of the West 5K, and Kids Fun Run.

Lee Corrigan, president of CSE, said, “Eastshore Park serves as a hub of activity for Oakland, and we received a lot of great feedback after this year’s event in regard to utilizing the park as a focal point. With nearly a decade of history behind us, we’ve learned runners appreciate the authentic Oakland experience our course delivers on race day as we highlight ‘The Town’s’ eclectic districts.”

The marathon course will continue to highlight Oakland’s diverse neighborhoods. The scenic 26.2 mile trek will start at Eastshore Park near MacArthur Blvd, wind its way up through the gorgeous Claremont area, pass by the Mormon Temple, and head back toward downtown.  After passing through Fruitvale and West Oakland, runners will traverse the final three miles toward the finish line at beautiful Lake Merritt.

According to a 2015 study by RESI, an economic research and consulting firm located at Towson University, the 2015 Oakland Running Festival’s annual economic impact surpassed $12 million. More than $2 million has been raised for local charities since the event’s inception in 2010.
