Whole Foods Market Fuels Oakland Marathon

Oakland, CA (March 21, 2017) — Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE)announced today Whole Foods Market will provide all on course food and healthy snacks for the Oakland Running Festival. The eighth annual event on April 2 will attract 10,000 runners from more than 30 states and eight foreign countries to compete in one of five race distances: marathon, half marathon, four-person team relay, Bank of the West 5K and kids fun run.

The marathon course features 16 aide stations stocked with bananas, granola bars and other healthy options from Whole Foods Market.

“Our top priority as event hosts is the health of every runner,” said Lee Corrigan, president of CSE. “Whole Foods Market’s fruits and healthy snacks fuel our field on race day and propel our runners to the finish line.”

According to a 2015 study by RESI, an economic research and consulting firm located at Towson University, the 2015 Oakland Running Festival’s annual economic impact surpassed $12 million. More than $2 million has been raised for local charities since the event’s inception in 2010.
