Parking & Public Transportation
Below we have provided a couple of resources to help you race weekend. Please plan early!
IMPORTANT: There is no official Oakland Marathon parking. There is also no parking available at Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts. Please adhere to all No Parking signs, restrictions, and fees. Check websites for the most up-to-date details from the City or private parking garages.
SUNDAY, MARCH 23 – RACE DAY
On Race Day, please be aware that road closures will start in the course zone at 6:00am.
OPEN: Paid Parking at the Alco Park Garage (165 13th St Lakeside, Oakland, CA 94612); open from 5:30am – 3:30pm.
To access the ALCO garage we recommend that participants:
- Use Hwy 880 to access downtown via the offramps at Jackson or Broadway or
- Use 11th St. to cross Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd or
- Head north on Oak St. from Embarcadero to 12th St.
Additional Race Day Parking
- Metered parking is available throughout downtown and around Lake Merritt.
- CLOSED: There is no public parking at the Oakland Museum of California on race morning.

For BART and Bus information please visit the respective agency websites. BART services in some areas open at 8:00am and may serve 5K participants.
FRIDAY, MARCH 21
- OPEN: Paid parking at the Alco Park Garage (165 13th St Lakeside, Oakland, CA 94612); open until 7:00pm, Monday – Friday.
- OPEN: Paid parking at the Oakland Museum of California (1000 Oak St, Oakland, CA 94607) is available.
- Metered parking is available throughout downtown and around Lake Merritt.
SATURDAY, MARCH 22
- OPEN: Paid parking at the Oakland Museum of California (1000 Oak St, Oakland, CA 94607) is available.
- Metered parking is available throughout downtown and around Lake Merritt.
- CLOSED: The Alco Park Garage will be closed.
