OAKLAND, Calif. – (March 22, 2026) – Ryuji Mano of San Francisco and Andrea Deutsche of Newcastle won the men’s and women’s titles at the 2026 Oakland Marathon presented by Kaiser Permanente, crossing the finish line in 2:30:58 and 2:52:56, respectively. The 17th edition of the event, produced by Bay Area-based production company Run Local®, drew a record 11,000+ participants across the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Eat. Learn. Play. Kids Fun Run presented by Kaiser Permanente.

In the Elite competition, along with welcoming the Under Armour Velociti Elite team highlighting some of the region’s best runners, this year’s Half Marathon was also an official Pacific Association USATF Grand Prix event with $2,900 in prize money for PAUSATF members. In addition, podium finishers in the Marathon and Half Marathon were awarded Golden Acorn chains designed by Malka Diamonds & Jewelry.

Oakland’s own Turf Inc, the acclaimed turf dance entertainment company, got the runners from around the country and world moving with pre-race warmups prior to taking on one of the Bay Area’s most iconic courses. Golden State Valkyries, Kayla Thornton, Oakland’s Mistah FAB as well as Kaiser Permanente’s Physician, Dr. Jamal Rana and Jamie Brandi, Vice President & Compliance Officer, served as the event’s honorary starters.

The route weaved through Oakland’s vibrant neighborhoods with live music and enthusiastic cheer stations along the way with Marathon participants experiencing the signature highlight of the course—a run across the Bay Bridge, the only marathon to offer this experience.

The event also saw over 50 run crews and corporate teams along with a record 500 registered general teams. Local Bay Area luminaries also participated, including rapper, producer & songwriter, P-Lo, who ran the Marathon.

The celebration didn’t end on course with the Finish Line Festival, open to the public, featuring live entertainment from Mistah FAB, JWalt and DJ Shellheart alongside food and beverages from local vendors. Visraant Lyer, Director of Strategic Partnerships for the City of Oakland also presented the event with an Official City Proclamation.

Earlier in the weekend, the two-day Oakland Marathon Health & Wellness Expo, presented and hosted by the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts, drew thousands of attendees with wellness products and services, Bay Area sports teams, and music. On Saturday, Under Armour hosted its annual Shakeout Run around Lake Merritt and local Berkeley based company, GU hosted the Oakland Moves conversation with U.S. Olympian and 2018 Boston Marathon Champion Desiree Linden. The Eat. Learn. Play. Kids Fun Run presented by Kaiser Permanente welcomed over 1,000 young competitors for a day of races, sports activities, games, and music alongside Bay Area sports teams, including Oakland Sports Group members Oakland Roots, Oakland Soul, Oakland Ballers, Oaklandish and Oakland 68.

“What an incredible day for Oakland. Eleven thousand participants, a record-breaking turnout, and a finish line festival that reminded everyone why this city has such a special place in the running world. From Turf Inc warming up the crowd to Mistah FAB closing it out, today felt like a true Oakland celebration. We are so grateful to the City of Oakland and all the partners, volunteers, and runners who make this event what it is year after year.”
